WeWomen Albania: Building a Community Where Women Lift Each Other Up
Why WeWomen?
I founded WeWomen Albania because I believed something simple but powerful: when women support each other, entire societies move forward.
Throughout my career in academia, research, and consulting, I kept meeting incredible Albanian women — smart, driven, passionate — who felt isolated in their professional journeys. They had talent and ambition, but they lacked a space where they could be honest about their challenges, share their experiences, and find support from others who understood.
WeWomen was born from that need.
What We Do
WeWomen Albania is an informal, community-driven platform. We're not an NGO with a board and a budget. We're a living network of women who come together around shared values:
- Community conversations — honest, safe discussions about careers, leadership, and life
- Workshops and training — practical skills and knowledge sharing
- Storytelling — making women's achievements visible and celebrated
- Mentoring and connections — linking women across generations and sectors
Women in Uniform Alliance
One of our proudest initiatives is the Women in Uniform Alliance documentary series. Through these films, we share the stories of remarkable Albanian women serving in uniform — in the police, military, and other security forces. Women like Aida Dizdari, Juljana Gjegja, Arjana Zylyftari, and others whose stories deserve to be heard.
These are women who break stereotypes every day. By telling their stories, we challenge narrow definitions of what women can achieve.
The Network of Albanian Women in STEM
Together with SCiDEV, I co-initiated NAW-STEM — the Network of Albanian Women in STEM. Launched on February 11, 2021, this network works to increase women's representation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Because gender equality isn't just a social issue — it's an innovation issue.
